Milestone alert: first proven autonomous gangway operation!

The transition from manual to automated gangway operations is on. SMST presents two innovative automation packages: ‘Auto Positioning’ and ‘Auto Landing’. Both have successfully been tested by our product development team on board of REM Energy.

How does it work? ‘Auto Positioning’ enables the operator to deploy the gangway from its boom rest by a push of a button. After this quick positioning, the operator can use ‘Auto Landing’ to actively track the landing point and make an autonomous connection. When the operation is finished, the ‘Auto Positioning’ package also allows for autonomous retrieval of the gangway.

The combination of these innovations leads to a fully automated gangway, which makes gangway operations easier, faster, and safer!
