Expansion gangway rental fleet in 2020

SMST continues to expand its rental fleet! From May 2020, a larger type of gangway will be added to the current rental fleet. With even greater availability and wider usability of the fleet as a result. With that, SMST contributes increasingly to the safe and efficient transfer of people and cargo within the offshore industry.

In Q2-2020 two gangways, the so-called Telescopic Access Bridges L series (TAB-L) will be added to the rental fleet. This gangway has a length of 15 up to 25m and has a cargo handling capacity of 1t via a lifting winch below the bridge tip. The modular setup of the system ensures maximum operational flexibility. Working on various heights can be done with stacking modules, a proven concept. The gangway L Series has already been in operation in combination with the SMST Access & Cargo Tower on board the service vessels Acta Auriga, Acta Centaurus, ESVAGT Albert Betz and Bibby Wavemaster Horizon.

The current rental fleet provides the SMST Telescopic Access Bridges M Series (TAB-M) with a gangway length of 13 up to 21m. This series of gangways are immediately available and suitable for all possible operational conditions. Since the introduction of our rental fleet, this type of gangway has played a major role in the vast majority of wind projects in the North Sea. Several ship owners, major turbine manufacturers and oil and gas companies have satisfactorily and successfully deployed the TAB-M for their long and short term Walk-to-Work projects.
